Cat Piss — Shrubz Cannabis Strain Review

I recently tried Cat Piss by Shrubz, a local, woman-owned micro-grow, and the flower immediately stood out. The buds were reddish, hairy, extremely trichome-dense, and noticeably frosty, giving them a really attractive, resin-heavy appearance.

It’s aroma was pretty interesting. I picked up a strong lemon-lime soda / Sprite-like smell, followed by just a slight hint of that funky, ammonia-like “cat piss” aroma the strain is known for. I smoked it in a joint, and the flavor changed quite a bit from the nose. There was a little citrus zest up front, but the smoke was predominantly woody and peppery.

The effects were very uplifting and energetic. I felt extremely motivated, alert, and ready to get things done. I’m typically an indica person, so the strong sativa-style rush was actually a little intense for me—but someone looking for an energetic daytime experience may appreciate that quality.

The terpene profile is also interesting. It’s high in beta-myrcene, a terpene common for its potentially relaxing and analgesic properties. It also contains alpha-pinene (beta-pinene more indica effects), which is often associated with a fresh pine aroma and a more alert and wired experience. This strain also includes a slight bit of CBG, providing you with the surge of motivation needed to bang out some tasks on that to-do list!

Cat Piss from Shrubz delivered gorgeous frosty flower, a funky citrus-forward nose, woody-peppery smoke, and a seriously energetic experience. For me, it was almost too stimulating—but if motivation and an upbeat daytime effect are what you’re after, this one definitely made an impression. Blaze up, it’s 4:20 somewhere.

Machado’s Must Have

The cherry flavor is honestly the first thing that caught my attention. It has a really sweet, cherry taste that immediately reminds me of a classic Shirley Temple, with that sugary grenadine-type flavor coming through without being too overwhelming. There’s a nice fruity sweetness that remains, so you still get that cherry taste after the initial flavor hits.

Being a hybrid strain, the effects feel like a mix of both sides as well. It is a relaxed feeling for me but still feeling relatively upbeat and alert rather than totally tired or glued to the couch. I felt calm, comfortable, and in a pretty good mood. I ended up putting on a show, grabbed some snacks, and just relaxed the rest of the night.

I also like how compact the Micro Bar is-it’s small, lightweight, and easy to carry around without taking up much space, which makes it convenient when you’re on the go.

All in all, the strong cherry taste, balanced effects and small size make it an easy option.
